I don’t know if this is still the case, but when I was in high school, everyone signed your yearbook thusly, “Don’t change!”. It could, but didn’t have to, include the following, “For n-e-one” (that’s “for anyone” for those of you playing at home).
Recently, I’ve been given advice from a friend that claims just the opposite. We have to change. And for those of us who are Christians, we should want to change (in a manner that is positive and healthy, not negative and unhealthy). I, for one, am exceedingly glad I didn’t follow the well-intended but misguided advice of my peers. I’m finding things in my life constantly that need to be changed, whether it’s behaviors, thought patterns, or old habits that aren’t helpful.
Change is often hard, but it is necessary. There, by the grace of God, go I.
